My hubby is an engineer who has worked on many different kinds of mechanical engineering projects over the years. He has some experience with jobs that require Vibration Isolation but they were many years ago. One job required setting up noise curtains to isolate the sound from a test stand.

He is now working on a project of his own that requires Vibration and Noise isolation but since he is not up to date on the latest technology in the field, he will probably be contacting a company by the name Isolation Technology Inc. He needs to be sure that he is up to date on the latest products and technology that are available on the market.

My hubby and I finally started our outdoor gardening last week. We had planted some seeds in pots that we were able to bring in during the cold nights and then we thought that the heavy frosts were finally over. Wrong! The tomato plant and bell pepper plant that we left outside got frozen a few nights ago when the weather forecast said that it would only get down to 36 degrees Fahrenheit.

I had planted some okra and string bean seeds but hopefully they were not affected by the frost. Yesterday, we went to town and bought two more tomato plants, a replacement for the bell pepper plant and one strawberry plant. The tomato and bell pepper were on sale for $1.00 each so we didn’t lose much. Hopefully, we won’t be getting anymore freezing temperatures this spring.

It can get really warm here in northern Minnesota during the summer time. That is the time of year that my hubby likes to get out and work in the garage. Right now he has several projects going on there. He needs to do several small maintenance jobs on the boat and replace a head gasket on our lawn mower. It seems that something is always breaking down and needing repair. The garage gets really hot because it faces the south and isn’t air conditioned like our house. I noticed that my brother in-law has a ceiling fan in his garage. I think installing an outdoor ceiling fan would be a good thing to have there to keep it cool while he is working on his projects.

When my hubby bought this house in 1998, it did not have a garage or workshop area. That was one of the first projects that he took on and completed after he moved here. The garage/workshop is 22×40 ft and now he wishes he had built it even bigger. He has thought about building another garage or storage shed but now with his health problems, he probably won’t be able to do that. I think one of these steel building kits by Crown International might be just the thing we need for additional storage and workshop areas.

When I saw this blog opportunity about turnbuckles, I did not even know what a turnbuckle was. My hubby, who is a mechanical engineer, explained to me that a turnbuckle is a really handy device that is used to put tension on and adjust tension in cables that are strung between from two anchor points. He had an application in one of his engineering jobs where he needed to put a certain amount of bending tension on a beam and be able to adjust the tension when conditions changed. A turnbuckle in a cable system was the handy, inexpensive and easy solution for the problem.

My brother in the Philippines plays in a band. We bought him an electric guitar a few years ago and we will be looking forward to listening to him play the next time we go over there. I don’t play any instruments but my hubby used to play a trombone in a marching band when he was in high school. I don’t know if my brother’s band could use a trombone or not but it might be fun to have my hubby join in when they make music. He would have to buy a new trombone like this prelude by Conn-Selmer because he sold his old one many years ago.

I spend a lot of time on the internet these days. Besides doing my blogging, I communicate with my family on a regular basis and watch a lot of soap operas from back in the Philippines. My hubby likes to spend his time reading the news and doing research.

I like to play computer games sometimes but I seldom have a lot of time to do as much of it as I would like. There are a lot of really cool free games out there online from places like sonicgames365.com. They have so many games based on the Sonic the Hedgehog character that it would take way too much time for me to figure out how to play them all. If I could narrow them down to a few games like sonic flash and ultimate flash sonic, I might be able to actually get good at one or two of them.

They have three major categories of Sonic games that are broken down by the type of game. They have actions/arcade games, puzzles/creative games and RPG/movies types of games. I have never played any of the Sonic games but I have often seen the character in different arcades and on the internet. I know that these games are really big with kids in particular.

I have a niece who is now two and a half years old and lives in Germany. She is very precocious and likes to watch the Barbie doll DVD that I sent her for her last birthday. I am sure that in the not too distant future she will be getting interested in more sophisticated, interactive toys and games. I should probably go through some of these Sonic games and try to figure out if any of them would be appropriate for her yet. I am sure that she will be interested in these kinds of games in the not too distant future. I guess I will have to get more familiar with some of them so that I can recommend them to her.
