Last weekend marked a third straight loss for the Vikings. I can’t believe it anymore. The latest blow came when the Vikings scored 20 points in the first half while holding Detroit to 0. The second half they got outscored by 23-3 and lost by a final score of 26-23 in overtime. It was the third weekend in a row that they had led big at half time and still ended up losing the game. One of the sport reporters recently commented that the Vikings have led by a total of 84 of the 90 minutes of the three games they lost. That 84 minutes of lead time is the highest in the NFL.

It has been reported that they are now setting new records with their losses. Apparently, no other NFL team has ever led three games in a row by double digits and then ended up losing. I have a theory as to why the Vikings keep falling apart in the second half. I think they have conditioning issues because there was no organized training during the off season. I think a lot of the players did not get in the work they needed. When the second half comes, they run out of gas. There have also been a lot of ridiculous penalties at critical moments, that coupled with some very bad calls by the referees have cost them dearly.

It was so painful for me to continue watching the Vikings game last Sunday. Again, for the second week in a row, the Vikings, after starting off with a big lead, could not pull out the win. It was like de javu all over again from their game last week against the Chargers. The Vikings shut down the Buccaneers 17-0 in the first half. Both offense and defense stepped up and kept the Buccaneers from putting points on the score board.

In the second half, it was a complete turn around with the Buccaneers dominating the game. The Vikings added only 3 more points while the Buccaneers scored 24. The Buccaneers won 24-20 over the Vikings.

I don’t know what is going on with the Vikings this season. They play so well in the first half but are not able to keep the same momentum in the second half. As a fan, it is frustrating to watch both the offense and defense collapse. Do you think they can turn it around this weekend? I don’t know. They will play the Lions who have been hot lately. The Lions have won their 2 games in an impressive fashion.

The baseball season is coming to an end and the football season has just started. After the football pre-season, I was hopeful that the Vikings would pull off a win on the first week with their new quarterback and the new head coach. The Vikings played the Chargers in San Diego. Early on I was excited and thought that the Vikings would win the game because Percy Harvin took the opening kick off all the way back for a touchdown.

The Vikings were looking good, especially on defense because they were keeping the high powered Chargers offense off the field. The Vikings were leading 17-7 at the half time but looked very lethargic after that. They did not score any points during the entire second half. That was very disappointing. I thought that with the combination of Adrian Peterson and Donovan McNabb they would win easily. They ended up losing to San Diego by the score of 24-17.

The Vikings were the only team in the NFL north that lost their first game. The Lions, Bears and Packers were all impressive in their home opener starting games. Now that the Vikings are having their home opener this weekend, I hope they can get something going.

I am a real sports fanatic. Baseball and football are my favorite sports. I used to be only a baseball fan but my hubby got me watching football. I did not understand how football worked at first but as I kept watching the games with my hubby, I started to learn until I became a fan. Now I can’t pass up any games available on television, especially when my favorite football team is playing.

It is still a long way off before the football season starts but I feel excited just by thinking about it. I can’t wait to see Adrian Peterson, Tom Brady and Michael Vick take the field this year.

The Vikings are my favorite football team. Yes, because Minnesota is my home state. I just hope that this year they will play well. They have new coaches and hopefully they can find new trends, techniques and strategies to win games. I don’t usually watch car races on television because it is not one of my favorite sports but my hubby sometimes does. Yesterday, I caught the final lap of the Daytona 500 while my husband was watching. A twenty year old NASCAR driver by the name of Trevor Bayne won the race. He is the youngest driver to ever win the Daytona 500. Yesterday was only his second Sprint Cup competition and he made history. Congratulations, Trevor!
